  • The content of 18.01 and 18.02 was a necessary prerequisite, and some students recommended background in linear algebra as well.
  • Some proof experience may be helpful, but is not required.

Subject Matter

  • Most thought it was theoretical, but occasionally mentioned a few applications.

Course Staff

  • Students found the course staff approachable. Students mentioned that he would stay around after class to answer questions, and that he would give very detailed responses to questions
  • The TA was also very helpful and supportive.

  • Students found lectures to be somewhat disorganized, and very theoretical.
  • Lecture recordings helped students go back and review any material missed from the class.

Problem Sets

  • Students found the problem sets doable, especially if you attended office hours.
  • There were 4 psets during the semester, and recitations prepared students well for the psets.

  • Students found the exams tough, but that grading was lenient.

  • Students used lecture notes and recordings to supplement going to class.

  • Students felt that grading was more than fair.
